our history
J&D McLennan Ltd was established in Wellington in 1945 after brothers James and Duncan McLennan returned from serving in the armed forces during World War II. The company started life as a general engineering and maintenance business servicing the local community and operating out of old horse stables in Petone.
J&D McLennan is now one of the largest and most complete engineering shops in the Wellington area. Constant investment in production machinery and techniques have extended our capabilities as general engineers with a strong mechanical background to offer a wide range of design and fabrication solutions.

In recent years we’ve become recognised globally for the design of aviation ground support equipment as the manufacturing arm of Airport Equipment which has installations in every major airport in the South Pacific and beyond
Since 1974 we have manufactured and installed more than 250 aircraft passenger boarding bridges for Airport Equipment with all electrical design and construction and fabrication and assembly carried out in-house. Our team is also responsible for site installation.
